Ulster Scots is hardly an accent never mind a dialect. A lot of
the current sentance formation in local Northern irish dialect
supposedly derrived of UlsterScots are actually more inclined
to the Irish language which was spoken by natives until the
whole plantation etc. Like i said ulster scots is a load of %§$?!
about 300 people speak it max. Gaeilge Abú tíocfaidh ar lá

I'm a lover of small Germanic languages and Scots is the
latest Germanic language which I've discovered. I was only
familiar with Dutch, Frisian, Afrikaans, Yiddish and Faroese.
But Scots is a new one in the list of small languages. Okay,
Danish, Swedish and Norwegian aren't that big too. But
they're bigger. I hope Scots will get more publicity, it's more
or less a forgotten language. And I'll give it more publicity at
least. If you're a lover of small Germanic languages as well,
feel free to contact me. And please visit my Afrikaans course
as well. URL:

FYI: there's an interesting piece in David Crystal's new book 'The
Stories of English' on the origin of the Scots language (P202).
