I think it's wonderful how so many folk out there DO treat Scots as more than just a degenerate form of English. If Norwegian and Swedish can be considered languages apart from each other, there is no linguistical reason that Lallans and English cannot be. Except of course but for politics.. but then as we are all aware, Scotland IS a nation, and thus I think Lallans fulfills all criteria for being a language of its own. The only suggestion I have for this site is to make the dictionary more encompassing. I am currently cobbling stuff together from various sites- this site, so good in so many ways, should have a better dictionary for it. Best of luck for the future in this endeavour, and perhaps I shall join you in it, Bryan (a friend south of the border)

Ever since discovering my Scots heritage about 3 years ago I have immersed myself in things scots. I have developed a type of "brogue" which I use while reading or reciting Burns poetic works. (probably a native scot would be bewildered by what I speak-but I do it with affection, and respect) I would like to hear a recording (preferably CD) of a male moice of someone who is regarded as very good at reciting Burns works, in the dialect in which it was intended to be heard. Can anyone direct me to a source? Aye! A freend...John Dawson AKA Ian MacDhai, Clans Davidson, and Elliott Societies, USA
