Thot you might like to add George MacDonald to your list for good 
reading. His narrator always speaks in 'Victorian English', but his 
Scottish novels are chock full of dialect...much of it Doric, some more 
general 'Scots'.  His characters always speak in their true Scottish 
voice. My reccomendation for a great start is *Sir Gibbie* (current 
publisher -- Johanneson Publishing...they've reprinted all of MacDonald's 
stuff *with* the Scots dialect...some other publishers have sadly 
extracted it!)
